Herts County Council is preparing a new Minerals Local Plan.  We have expressed our concerns in our formal response to the most recent public consultation in March 2019.  We believe the proposals are insufficient to prevent adverse impacts on neighbouring land uses, the environment and the community.  We strongly oppose sand and gravel works at Briggens in the Green Belt at Stanstead Abbotts and believe this site should be deleted from the Plan.  We also oppose the concurrent operation of two sites at Hatfield, resulting in increased disturbance, noise and dust emissions.  It is national policy for greater use of recycled and secondary aggregates and we believe the Plan gives insufficient priority and weight to these.  You can read all of our representations here.
