Our representations – Herts County Council’s Minerals Local Plan March 2019

31st March 2019

Our representations

In March 2019 we submitted our representations in response to Herts County Council’s proposed Minerals Local Plan. We expressed our concerns that the forecast amount of aggregates required for development over the plan period was based on out of date assumptions, and that proposed policies were insufficient to prevent adverse impacts on neighbouring land uses, the environment and the community.

We also strongly opposed the proposal to extract sand and gravel from two sites at Hatfield concurrently. And we strongly opposed the proposal for sand and gravel works at Briggens (shown in the photo above) which is in the Green Belt. In our opinion this conflicts with national planning policy.
