St Albans City and District Local Plan status

St Albans City and District (SACD) Council adopted its present District Local Plan in 1994.  The Council conducted a pubic consultation on a proposed Local Plan in 2018.  We made a number of representations in that consultation, advocating for protection of the Green Belt and expressing our concerns about the large ‘Hemel Garden Communities’ proposal affecting both SACD and Dacorum.  You can read our representations here.

Ultimately, the proposed Local Plan went to Examination in Public in 2019 before being formally withdrawn in 2020.

In early 2021 the Council issued a ‘Call for Sites’ and intends to prepare a new Draft Local Plan.  Initial public consultation on the Draft Local Plan is timetabled for 2022.
