2025 Children’s Art Competition – Results

16th September 2025

Our annual Children’s Art Competition is a much-anticipated highlight of the CPRE Hertfordshire calendar. This year’s theme ‘My Adventures in the Countryside’ inspired an incredible response from primary school children across Hertfordshire.

The aim of the competition is to encourage children and their families to connect more deeply with our beloved Hertfordshire countryside through creativity and personal expression. We were thrilled to see so many schools taking part and to receive so many imaginative, heartfelt, and beautifully crafted artworks.

Our panel of judges, Susan Cooper, Erin Brown, and Kathy Evershed, was truly impressed by the quality and originality of the entries.

'I was so impressed by the quality and effort put into every piece of art that was entered into the Competition. We saw a huge range of ideas and media used, all of which effortlessly encapsulated this year’s theme'
Erin Brown
'The creativity and thought that went into the work was a joy to behold. Well done to all the children and the teachers for facilitating such fabulous work!'
Susan Cooper

The Overall winning school was picked because the entrants impressed the judges with their pure creativity and technical ability with a large range of different media. The entrants showed great sensitivity in handling the brief and portraying their adventures in the countryside and what nature represents to them. It was clear to see the hard work each pupil had put into their piece, and it was a joy for the judges to go through all the pieces from St. Joseph’s Primary School in Hertford.

Prizes and Recognition

  • The overall winning school will receive a £500 prize.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed artists will each be awarded a certificate and a prize.  These will be awarded at our AGM and Countryside Day on Saturday 11 October, with the artworks displayed to celebrate. Everyone is welcome to attend Countryside Day, and tickets can be booked here: CPRE Hertfordshire Countryside Day 2025
  • Commended entries will receive a certificate in recognition of their talent and effort.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the young artists who entered and to the schools, teachers, art clubs, and families who encouraged participation, whether during lessons, in after-school clubs, or as a creative project at home.

Your enthusiasm and support continue to make this competition such a special part of what we do.
