2021 Children’s Art Competition – Results
Our Children’s Art Competition is a long standing and well-loved part of the CPRE Hertfordshire calendar. In 2021 the theme was ‘The Colour of Nature’.
We recognised that the past two years have been challenging for everyone but once again nature and our countryside has played a significant part in our mental, physical & emotional health and general wellbeing. We have watched the seasons and landscape change and many of us have learnt to truly appreciate how beautiful our county is whilst enjoying, walking and observing Hertfordshire’s countryside.
The benefits of being outside have been well documented and this competition enables us to celebrate Hertfordshire’s green spaces through the eyes of a younger generation. This year we asked the schoolchildren to think about nature all around them to produce a piece of artwork which captures the colour of nature.
Winning artists receive gift vouchers and certificates and commended artists receive certificates. In addition, the Overall Winning School receives £500 for their art department.
This year we were delighted that more schools participated than ever before, and over 170 entries were received. There was great variety in the medium used, the creativity was inspiring, and the interpretation of colour was enlightening.
Professional artist Valerie Cansick, who judged the competition, said
“The competition has produced some wonderful entries with imaginative and interesting art work, I feel privileged to have been involved in the judging. A special thank you to everyone who has contributed so much to encourage the children to create such colourful entries.”
It is fantastic to have once again received so much support for this well-loved competition.
