This 4.4 mile circular walk starts and finishes in Wilstone village, two miles northwest of Tring.

IMPORTANT – FOOTPATH CLOSURE. A portion of the route on this walk is currently blocked due to ongoing work by the Canal & River Trust to strengthen the Wilstone reservoir embankment. The work is due to be completed in March 2026. Meanwhile, we have had reports of inadequate diversion signage, so it may be best to wait until summer 2026 before attempting this walk.

This circular walking route explores the four Tring Reservoirs and the adjacent canal system, all built in the 19th century. The reservoirs are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an important bird habitat, making this walk ideal for bird-watching although there is much else to see and discover.
