Planning application no. 25/1615/FUL

Full planning application for the development of the site to provide 98 homes within a mix of houses and apartment buildings up to three storeys high, together with vehicle parking, bicycle parking, refuse provision, new substation, communal amenity space, and landscaping

The proposed development site is in the Green Belt. This application is especially significant as the site was previously registered as the Woodcock Hill Village Green and subject to a successful de-registration application by the developer, which was subject to a planning appeal inquiry. At the inquiry, Counsel for the applicants assured the Inspector that there was no connection between the de-registration application and any plans for development of the site. It is clear that it was always the intention of Taylor Wimpey to develop the site. For the applicant to suggest that the site should now be regarded as ‘grey belt’ is entirely inappropriate due its particular nature and function with regard to the surrounding local community. This application is not supported through the Local Plan process and we urge the Council to refuse permission for this inappropriate speculative development.
