2020 Children’s Art Competition – Results

CPRE Hertfordshire’s 2020 Children’s Art Competition

The original theme for our 2020 Children’s Art Competition was My Favourite Walk in Hertfordshire. The competition was launched to primary schools in the county in the hope they would set it as a class project and send the original artwork to the office for judging.

Once the primary schools closed in March due to the pandemic lockdown we decided to add a second theme, What I Can See Through My Window. We promoted it via social media and invited children to enter from home by attaching a piece of artwork to an email and sending it to us electronically. As many schools were open for children of key workers we continued to promote it to them too.

The response was amazing. All the images were collated and sent to the judge by electronic transfer and the results were returned in the same way. It was lovely to receive so many beautiful pictures and it made the judging very difficult.

Professional artist Valerie Cansick, who judged the competition, said

“Congratulations to all the children who entered whilst in lockdown and thank you to those who made it possible. As always the artwork is amazing.”
