Stanstead Abbotts and the River Ash Valley

This 5½ mile circular walk explores the higher land to the north of the village of Stanstead Abbotts and also drops down into the valley of the river Ash, a tributary of the Lea. For much of the walk there are far-reaching views in all directions.

For those not wanting to walk this far, a shorter return route is available.

St Margarets station, on the railway line to and from Hertford East, is a short distance from the start of this walk, making this an ideal walk to access using public transportation.
