Proposed Solar Farm, Potters Crouch
Planning application no. 5/2025/1132
Construction, operation and subsequent decommissioning of a solar farm, comprising ground mounted solar photovoltaics (PV), together with associated infrastructure including inverters, transformers, cabling, CCTV, fencing, access tracks and landscaping
The proposed 107 hectares’ development site is in the Green Belt, and would nearly surround the historic hamlet of Potters Crouch severely diminishing the amenity of this small community. There are also significant adverse impacts on wildlife and biodiversity, heritage, and community use via the public rights of way across and adjacent to the site. The applicant asserts the site is ‘grey belt’ but we disagree. The circa 100,000 panels, twenty-seven inverter and transformer buildings, boundary fencing and CCTV poles would industrialise the countryside and we urge the Council to refuse permission.
