The construction and operation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure including battery container units, medium voltage stations, 132 kV substation, 33kV customer switchgear, DNO control room, storage and welfare containers, CCTV cameras, fencing including acoustic fence, access tracks, water storage tank and landscaping.

The proposed development site is in the Green Belt. The applicant argues this site is ‘grey belt’ but we disagree. There are also concerns regarding safety and noise. The Green Belt in southern Hertfordshire is under continuous and unrelenting pressure for development and we urge the Council to refuse permission for this inappropriate development.
