Land Betw. Bank Mill Lane and London Road, Berkhamsted

Planning application no. 25/03126/OUT

Construction of a retirement (sheltered housing) development (Use Class C3) including 50% affordable housing and communal facilities, and a 75-bed care home (Use Class C2) including the creation of public open space, together with access from London Road, parking, landscaping and all ancillary and enabling works.

The proposed development site is in the Green Belt, and is not included in the emerging Local Plan which is in the final stages of its Examination in Public. The Bulbourne, one of England’s rare chalk streams, runs through the site. The application argues the site is ‘grey belt’ and we refute this assertion. We urge the Council to refuse permission for this inappropriate speculative development.
