Our nature photo competition!
CPRE Hertfordshire’s photography competition celebrates our county’s beautiful green spaces. Now the entries have closed, the shortlist has been selected, and the public vote is done. We’re delighted to announce the winners and runners up!
The brief was deliberately broad. Photos could show any aspect of the countryside, the environment or the wildlife of Hertfordshire… be it the peaceful waterways of our unique chalk streams, the stunning scenery of our landscapes, the beauty of ancient woodlands, or the wonder of Hertfordshire’s flora and fauna.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to enter our photo competition. We’ve loved seeing all of your creative contributions depicting the scenic beauty of Hertfordshire, from small birds and mammals to sweeping landscapes.
We are very grateful to Peter Cox, President of the Tring & District Camera Club, who participated with us in selecting the shortlisted photos. And we are grateful to you – the public – who chose the winners and runners up with your votes!
Please note we had hoped to have three categories – under age 10, age 11 to 17, and age 18+. However, due to the very small number of entries in the two children’s categories these have been combined. As a result there are now two categories –
- CPRE Hertfordshire Children’s Photographer of the Year (age 17 and under), and
- CPRE Hertfordshire Adult Photographer of the Year (age 18+).
The winner in each of these two categories receives a £100 voucher. In addition, two runners up in each category each receive a £25 voucher.
The winning photos!
Huge congratulations to our winning photographers!
CPRE Hertfordshire Children’s Photographer of the Year (age 17 and under) is Alex Z. with his spectacular photo of a Kingfisher, taken at Rye Meads in Hoddesdon.

And CPRE Hertfordshire Adult Photographer of the Year (age 18+) is Alison Hull with her beautiful photo “Blooming Baldock”.

Our Runners Up
We are also delighted to announce our two runners’ up in each category, children’s and adults.
Our runners up in the Children’s category are Callum B. with his amazing photo of a rare, all-yellow duckling at Twyford Lock in Bishops Stortford…

… and also Pep C. with his lovely and artistic silhouetted tree in Heartwood Forest.

Our runners up in the Adults’ category are Anton Poon with his beautiful image entitled “Summer Daydream,” with a small bird in Ashridge forest…

… and also Robert Zmudzki with his impressive live action photo of a red kite, taken from Wallington Road in Baldock.

All of us at CPRE Hertfordshire are so inspired by these photographs, and offer our thanks and congratulations to all of our winners, runners up and all of those who entered our photo competition.
