Weston Hills wind turbine proposal, 2008

In 2008, a planning application was submitted for the installation of three 120 metre tall wind turbines near Hatch Lane in Weston, North Hertfordshire.

The proposed site for the wind turbines was in the Green Belt along the crest of the Weston Hills. CPRE Hertfordshire along with local parish councils and community groups objected to the proposal. We argued successfully that the development was inappropriate because of the harm it would cause to the openness of the Green Belt, with damaging large-scale visual intrusion into the surrounding landscape over long distances in all directions.
