Three Rivers Local Plan Reg 18: Part 5 – our initial response, Aug 2025

CPRE Hertfordshire’s initial commentary and analysis on the Three Rivers Local Plan Reg 18: Part 5 Newly Submitted Sites and New Policies Consultation.

We have a number of concerns, including the potential allocation of additional sites in the Green Belt. We believe the Council should undertake a proactive review of brownfield opportunities particularly in town centres, and not rely on landowners coming forward. We also have concerns about biodiversity and net zero policies and several other matters. Importantly, we urge the Council to challenge the Government’s inappropriate promotion of designated protected land for development and the weakening of protections afforded to wildlife and nature, all of which add up to a full-frontal assault on the English countryside.
