Land West of Green Street and North West of Stapleton Road, Borehamwood

Planning application no. 25/1713/OUT

Erection of up to 292 new homes (including affordable homes) together with associated open space and areas of play, landscaping and new access. (Outline application with all matters reserved except for means of access.)

The proposed development site is in the Green Belt. The application notes the 2024 revision of the NPPF and the introduction of the concept of grey belt as justification for the proposal. We entirely refute the assertion that this site constitutes grey belt under the present legal definitions. Further, the proposed development site constitutes a significant proportion of the Organ Hall Pastures Local Wildlife Site which is not regarded by the Applicant as a constraint to development. This is a particularly egregious application in a designated protected area under huge pressure which is not supported through the Local Plan process and we urge the Council to refuse permission for this inappropriate speculative development.
