Land North of Earls Lane, South Mimms
Planning application no. 25/1023/FUL
Construction of a solar farm (temporary for 40 years) with access off Earls Lane. Proposal would include the installation of solar photovoltaic panels to generate electricity (a 30 MW installation), with ancillary substations, inverters, perimeter stock fencing with CCTV, landscaping and other associated works.
The proposed development site is in the Green Belt and is also Best-and-Most Versatile agricultural land. Here at CPRE Hertfordshire we’re all for renewable energy, but we want to see solar energy generation on rooftops, not on designated protected land such as this. The application also asserts that the site is ‘grey belt’ but we disagree, and we urge the Council to refuse permission for this development.
