Our campaign on the proposed Dacorum local plan (Jan – Feb 2021)

5th March 2021

Dacorum Borough Council proposed Local Plan “Emerging Strategy for Growth 2020 – 2038”

The Council completed a public consultation on their proposed Local Plan in February 2021.  If adopted, the Plan would result in the destruction of 850 hectares of Hertfordshire Green Belt land, countryside and green spaces for development, including a minimum of 16,596 new dwellings. CPRE Hertfordshire believes that the calculation of housing numbers is too high, that opportunities to recycle land that has already been developed have not been fully considered, and that insufficient weight is given to climate change mitigation and environmental concerns. During the consultation period we shared our concerns with dozens of stakeholder and community groups, all the town and parish councils in Dacorum, the borough councillors, the MPs, and the wider public. You can read our campaign correspondence and consultation submission here.
