CPRE Hertfordshire welcomes the decision of a planning inspector to throw out an appeal by developer Gladman.

Sixty years ago, in August 1955, Green Belts became government policy. Since then they have provided green space and fresh air for 30 million people and protected some of our most precious farmland and woodlands.

Countryside campaigners CPRE Hertfordshire have alerted local members, supporters and residents to a planning application by the Crown Estates for 600 houses that would merge Mangrove Green and Cockernhoe with Luton.

A packed public meeting in Luton heard from leading countryside campaigners about the unprecedented threat of development on Green Belt land in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and its impact on communities.

Countryside campaigners CPRE Hertfordshire are concerned that St Albans Council intends to ignore criticisms of its disastrous attempt to impose flawed Housing Targets, with consequential development in the Green Belt.

Countryside campaigners CPRE Hertfordshire are calling on St Albans district residents to oppose their Council’s attempt to impose Housing Targets, and consequential development sites in the Green Belt, based on a flawed interpretation of national policy. Residents have only until this Sunday 23 November to comment on the draft Strategic Local Plan.
