We have been receiving emails and phone calls from residents in the Welwyn Hatfield area who are concerned about the current Welwyn Hatfield Council consultation on Promoted Sites.

CPRE Hertfordshire have now commented on the additional promoted sites (see June Attachment)

  • Over 140 sites have been suggested by land owners and developers for new housing, employment, mixed use or other developments (the largest site is over 148 hectares close to Potters Bar and the M25).
  • Most of the sites are in the Green Belt and would impact on the countryside and local communities.
  • The consultation forms part of the Local Plan examination process in which the Examination Inspector asked Welwyn Hatfield Council to see whether additional land could be identified for a further 4,000 houses to help meet in increase in objectively assessed housing need from 12,000 to 16,000 houses.
