CPRE Hertfordshire 2018 AGM

Written by Paul Munns

Our AGM was held on 4th September in Hitchin Priory.

CPRE Hertfordshire is the county branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. Founded in 1928, we are a separate registered charity.  Our part time staff and volunteers strive to celebrate and protect Hertfordshire's countryside for all to enjoy.
Throughout 2018 we have tried to mark this achievement in a variety of ways, we started with a new logo which heralded our achievement on a daily basis and we have started to publish a series of articles about our history on our website. It makes good reading so please do take a look.

A guided walk, led by Kevin FitzGerald, took place on Easter Monday in very inclement weather.  It was attended by a few hardy souls who were rewarded with amazing views of the Hertfordshire Countryside, a reminder of how precious it is and how important to continue trying to preserve it for future generations.
In mid-June, Elizabeth Hamilton gave an illustrated talk, it is the third year we have hosted a CPRE Hertfordshire talk during Welwyn Festival Week in the lovely Church Hall.  This is now becoming a regular and popular event in the festival calendar and gave Elizabeth the opportunity to tell a new audience about our History.
Our main event was an evening reception in July, we were joined by many members and local dignitaries who helped us to celebrate. There was a party atmosphere with sparkling wine, canapés and birthday cupcakes.  The final event was the 2018 AGM in September where a beautiful cake was cut and enjoyed by all.
90 years standing up for and striving to protect Rural Hertfordshire is an amazing achievement and we thank each and every one of you for supporting us in so many ways.
We hope you were able to join us for at least one event in 2018.
Thanks to your support we look forward to continuing for many years to come.

“Chairman Richard Bullen spoke to the members of the charity present at the Annual General Meeting that took place at Hitchin Priory of 4 September 2018.  The text of his address follows.  Richard also thanked all of the members of staff and the volunteers who make it possible for CPRE Hertfordshire to keep standing up for Hertfordshire’s countryside.”

2018 marks our 90th Anniversary and we would like to invite you, our supporters, to join us in celebrating.

Kevin FitzGerald, our Hon. Director, led a circular walk from The Lion PH in Eastwick on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 April.

In June Elizabeth Hamilton will be giving an illustrated talk about the role played by CPRE both nationally and locally (more details here).
