High Leigh Garden Village

Broxbourne Council has permitted the proposals by Land Improvements Ltd. and Leach Homes, to build up to 523 houses, retail and commercial floorspace, a hotel, school and recreation facilities, with principal access from the A10 Link Road into Hoddesdon, in the Green Belt between the town and the A10. Item updated 23 April 2015.

The Hertfordshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) has written to John Wood, Chief Executive of Hertfordshire County Council, outlining its reasons for opposing the Lower Luton Road/Common Lane site at Batford as a location for a proposed new secondary school to meet the needs of the Harpenden  area.

St Albans City and District Council has been refused permissio to proceed with its Strategic Railfreight Interchange Judicial Review application.

The threat to Green Belt land in North Hertfordshire has re-emerged in the form of a planning application submitted by Bloor Homes for a 1,050 dwelling ‘sustainable’ development called Wandon Park on land between Tea Green and Cockernhoe.

West of Stevenage countryside saved

The news that two planning applications to build up to 3,600 homes to the West of Stevenage have been withdrawn by the applicants has delighted countryside campaigners.

Countryside campaigners CPRE Hertfordshire have hit out at Stevenage Borough Council's consultation on Housing and Employment options for its Local Plan.
