Welwyn Hatfield Councillors have unanimously turned down a proposal for what amounts to a new housing estate on Green Belt at Cuffley

The proposal, for 493 residential units and 115 retirement dwellings on land at Northaw Road East, Cuffley, Potters Bar, EN6 4RB was unanimously rejected on 5 January 2017 by Councillors, upholding the Planning Officer's recommendation. The planning report concluded that the application did not demonstrate the ‘very special circumstances’ necessary to release land from the Green Belt. that the  CPRE Herts. has consistently objected to the development and urged others to add their voices.

However, local campaign group SCANGB warns that the applicants, Metropolis, may well appeal to the Secretary of State against the decision.
