Hertfordshire's Green Belt under seige

Hertfordshire Green Belt - Gresley Way Stevenage Hertfordshire Green Belt - Gresley Way Stevenage Paul Munns

A Green Belt threats map produced by the London Green Belt Council in partnership with CPRE branches is to be launched at the House of Lords on Tuesday 13 September.

CPRE Hertfordshire teamed up with the London Green Belt Council and CPRE branches in Essex, Kent, Beds, Bucks, Berks, Surrey and London to produce the map which shows threats to the Metropolitan Green Belt.

We are extremely grateful to the LGBC for producing and publishing the map on its website. By a ‘threat’ we mean that there is a proposal to build on a protected Green Belt site or the Green Belt protection is at risk of being removed. If you know of a threat in Hertfordshire not already marked on the map, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Move the map by clicking on it and moving your mouse or swipe sideways. Zoom with scrollwheel, pinch or swipe vertically (browser/OS dependent). Tap the purple dots to view details about each threat.

We know that there is no need to build on Green Belt land: brownfield ‘opportunity areas’ in the capital alone could provide 300,000 new homes. So please take action: write to local councillors, MPs, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government or even the Prime Minister to ask them to halt these threats right now. You can find example letters on the London Green Belt Council website. If you would like help with this please This email address is being protected from spambots.
