Hertfordshire Village of the Year Competition is sponsored by Calor in association with Hertfordshire County Council, North Hertfordshire District Council and The Hertfordshire Mercury The competition recognises, rewards and encourages vibrant village communities. It is judged in four categories: Environment, People, Business and Communications. Villages can enter as many, or as few, categories as they wish. Each category carries a prize. To win the Hertfordshire East, North or West trophy, and the chance to go through to the Calor England Village of the Year competition, a village will need to perform well in all four categories.
Who is the Village of the Year Competition for? Any village, can enter the competition - quality rather than quantity is what counts, although there is a population limit, 5,000. Any interested organisations, or individuals, can enter their village - but check with the Clerk to the Parish Council first, to avoid duplication of effort.
