Hertfordshire Village of the Year Competition is sponsored by Calor in association with Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Mercury and Majestic Trees The competition celebrates and encourages village life. It is judged in four categories: Environment, People, Business and Communications. Villages can enter as many, or as few, categories as they wish. Each category carries a prize. To win the Hertfordshire East or Hertfordshire West trophy, and the chance to go through to the regional level of the competition, a village will need to perform well in all four categories.
Who is the Village of the Year Competition for? Any village, irrespective of size, can enter the competition - quality rather than quantity is what counts. Any interested organisations, or individuals, can enter their village - but check with the Clerk to the Parish Council first, to avoid duplication of effort.
